http://www.beepworld.de/members39/computerschach2/chessmarks.htm gave me this idea... I have Fritz7 on my Celeron 500MHz/256MB machine, so I also installed it on my Celeron 2.6GHz/512MB box so I could get a comparison. I used the 7.0.0.8 engine for these 64MB hash Fritz7marks: 500MHz 364 (256kN/s) 2.6GHz 1008 (700kN/s) ratios: 2.8x 2.7x For comparison the above link gives the following (selected) kN/s values: Celeron 600 294kN/s Pentium3,1GHz 546kN/s Pentium4,2Ghz 777kN/s Pentium4,2.67GHz 1066kN/s AMD XP 2400+/2GHz 1098kN/s So my 2.6GHz Celery looks better (fairly competitive) if I were using Fritz 7, but I'm not!? I'm using Shredder 7.04 UCI in the Shredder 7 GUI, and that seems to make a difference. So I'm starting to think that I need some Shredder7marks(kN/s) on AMD machines for comparison before I run out and buy one. Probably they're better, but...it's not a given. WP
