I may try to come up with a proof, but if I do it may take awhile and I may be
surprised what I find, but don't expect the proof...I'm not a GM either.

It would help if I were. Also chess programmes can't really feel this position,
although I know Shredder 7.04 appears to have some grasp, and yes it plays a4.

So if I'm right, a4 is best, then Shredder is impressive.

At least you too would play this, even at Blitz Speed.

I'd say you have good intuition, in an unclear position.

BTW a4 was the first moved I considered, due to my personal experience.

I also must admit, right or not, I'm not as practised as I once was.

But where I am I have little one on one chess at a high level of play,
and at ICC I only play Blitz, mostly Bullet actually.

I need to utilize my software more to polish up and improve.

I'm very happy when I beat a top programme, and even more so at Blitz!

When I lose, and it happens too often, well I know the programmes are very very
good, so I accept it...but I never like it!;)
