I never say it was weaker in everything. But I _know_ it's worse
in evaluation and extensions, and some parts of the pruning can
be made safer.

I can see what Bob does (credits to him for that), and I can test
what he does, and I know it's worse than what I do.

If it would be the other way around, I'd do what Bob does, for
hopefully obvious reasons!

True.

But the original reason is nonsense. How can you conclude Crafty must be
better because it does less pruning - quality counts for something too
you know.

You could test this actually and see what the actual result is, but it
would be completely irrelevant to this thread anyway.
