Some time ago I had some strange problems with Hiarcs6..What happened is that
Haracs did not make the best move. When I went back and tried again, it did make
the best move. When I investigated, I found that it presented the better move
with a better score than the move it made. In other words, at times it made the
2nd best move according to its own calculation. I don't know how often this
happens. I only examined the situation this one time. One other problem I had
was that Hiarcs blundered early in the game and had a lost postion by move 12.
When I tried to reproduce what happened, I was unable to do it. I can only think
that their is a bug somewhere in the engine that just crops up once in a great
while. I think strange things happen sometimes with these complicated programs,
and it is very difficult to duplicate them. In all, I do find Harcs6 a very fine
product.
