I don't have any evidence about Crafty, and you know it better thanm us :-), but with other programs I have noticed sometimes that increasing the hash could even worsen the serach speed, I guess this is due to the time wasted for cleaning the hash. Of course this is more relevant for blitz games. ciao Franz
