So... what you are saying is that *you* don't know how to do it.  I program for
Windows... that's my platform.  When making an ICS interface I needed to have
exactly what you describe, with the addition of clickable "hyperlinks" to accept
challenges, take up seek offers, finger users etc.  I tried using the MFC to
accomplish what I wanted, but couldn't get it right... days later I just said
"screw it" and did the whole thing up in a couple of hours with perl and the TK
toolkit.  Looks great - crossplatform.

(*not* advocating Perl/TK over anything else.  I'm sure you would do much better
with what you use than I would, just as I can do better than you with what I
use.  The point here is that to blame Linux when the problem is that you really
just don't know is silly.)
