Excluding non-Americans from our computer chess events isn't going to make these events bigger and more successful. In fact, it will have the opposite effect. I also don't see how excluding the strongest competitors is going to raise the level of play of the American engines. Don't get me wrong - I'm all for holding computer chess events in the US. I just think it's a horrible idea to lock people out of the events. -Peter
