>If you ask non-chessplayers "Do you know a famous chessplayer?" you will almost >always get the answer "Kasparov". perhaps in Europe or elsewhere..but here in the US i doubt many non-chess players really know who Kasparov is much less know his name i recall an interview Kasparov gave on Larry King in the early to mid 1990's when asked by King if he thought CHESS would ever be popular in the USA ,Kasaprov replied..... ..its hard in the US .i think here they do not know the difference between me or Karpov if you ask the normal person (not chess player)he will think Karpov and me are one and the same man...Karparov not an exact qoute of what he said but pretty much the gist of the statement i think this is still true today Steve
