Folks, do you think Kasparov wants to be known as the guy who "terribly
bluners", particularly after the recent losses to Karpov, and Radjabov? Kasparov
is a HORRIBLE actor. He cannot pretend he feels one way when he feels another
way. As a matter of fact, most people hate him because he IS so sincere in his
emotions and in his outbursts. The loss was a genuine upsetness, he lashed out
at the arbeiter for pete sake. As far as money, compare the pot of that match
with past matches he's taken part of. Certainly he had something to prove for
settling so low (relatively low for the rest of us....ahem).

Kurt also had a good point. Would chessbase knowingly walk into a line where
Fritz made itself look like a beginner? Would that increase revenue do you
think? "I want that program who doesn't know how to play closed positions." The
decisions in opening lines throughout the match look very logical and
consistent. Garry got a good position in game one, so they play a6 later with
black. Also, Garry had mentioned he was planning to play for a win with the
Sicilian against 1. e4 in the final game! However, the computer surprised him
with 1. d4 and he was afraid they had something prepared (like another Kramnik
line) so he went for the safe Queen's Gambit Accepted. Those are REAL decisions
made by grandmasters. When they're surprised they want to head to safety. The
computer's choices are the ones that led to the draw. Garry just played good
moves with black in the final game.

There's more evidence suggesting it wasn't staged than if it was. This topic is
solely fueled by paranoia. This forum has a lot of that, let me tell you.
