Yes, previously I've always used R=2 in the endgame.  In my new approach, I do
the same in the endgame as in the middle game, except that I always subtract 1
from R in the endgame.  It is possible that it would be better to keep using
plain
R=2 in the endgame, I haven't made any experiments with this yet.
