Unlikely.  For instance, Murray Campbell spent 12 years working on computer
chess: Hitech, Deep Thought, Deep Thought II, Deep Blue.  He just might feel
like it's time to move on.  Of course, I am not speaking for him, he may not
feel this way at all.  Certainly Bob Hyatt did not feel that it is time to move
on after 12 years. :-)
