I doubt if you have time to play thousands of games at 120/40 time control and
it is possible that a program is really 50 elo better at faster time control but
not at 120/40.

For example it is possible that some changes in the evaluation do the program 20
elo better at 10 minutes/40 moves and 20 elo weaker at 120 minutes/40 moves
time.

I tend to assume that it does not happen but without testing you cannot be sure
that it is not the case.
