Subject: Opinion about which Chess program is strongest

I have seen many test positions with remarks like "Program X can see this Mate
in  Y in Z seconds, whereas Program W requires V minutes...."

Programs have their weak and strong points, and the nuclear versions that
recently participated at the WCCC may not be accessible to us mere chess
enthusiasts.

So my question is: What program can actually be purchased and installed on a PC
that is the strongest?

I know this is not 100% objective and opinions may vary widely, but I am
interested in hearing these opinions.
