I'm only quoting what I saw open, on the shelves, running. My daughter was in
the market, and asked me to go with her. I was looking specifically for AMD,
just to see if there were any opteron boxes there. (or opteron derivatives
such as FX51, etc.) The only thing I recall was an older Pavilion with an
AMD something in it (not 64 bit).

However, again, for the Opteron, after running on it, programming some assembly
on it, etc, it is good enough to not remind everyone that looks at it that it
is compared to Intel, 3400+mhz. Were I AMD, I'd start some new marketing about
"opteron inside" or something related to make a name for this chip, which seems
very good. Intel almost has to respond, of course. And their's _may_ be better
when they do, if they do. But for the moment, at least speaking for my chess
program, and a couple of other test applications I ran, _nothing_ from Intel can
touch an opteron 2.0ghz (I did not run on 2.2's or beyond even though I was
using hardware at AMD) so the gap is actually wider.
