Shredder might be using MTD(f). This is based on my very scientific observation
(a.k.a "largely unsupported speculation") that the way it spit out PVs reminded
me of SOS. SOS seems to spit out a lot of new PVs quickly, as if it's zooming in
on some value (which is what MTD(f) does, right?). Shredder gave me the same
impression.
