I said that from the point of view of a "realist". I won the 1983 WCCC event
with a program (a parallel program) that had _never_ played a full game. In
fact, as I drove from Hattiesburg, Mississippi to New York, Harry Nelson was up
at Cray helping them debug a parallel FORTRAN library problem that was killing
us. We had only run a _few_ tests, and yet things ran perfectly, no glitches
and we rolled through like we knew what we were doing. :) I can think of other
years where we should have won easily but unexpected "events" caused us to
finish much worse than we should have.

This is not a predictable thing, although today, Crafty is obviously much more
robust than CB as Crafty plays all day every day, so at least we won't expect it
to crash or play an illegal move...
