I can not follow your reasoning here.
We certainly agree that a draw is better than a loss.
The pawn d5 is lost anyway, but it's only the extra pawn.
After the game continuation white has lost two pawns (d5 and h2).

Yes, it will move to the square b3.
The position seems to be only slightly better for black, very drawish.
