Michael, I followed your idea and now it works. The main point was the re-naming of the file mention in the uci eng. Also the creation of a new directory. Although now - with all windows open - I have memory of 190 MB in my options for all engines, Crafty doesn't work because it creeps on one single half move. I chose Fritz8 as engine and it worked fine in the high half-moves. Could it be that Crafty has too much memory in the ini Mike has added? Why this difference in adaptivity? But now I hope I come nearer to a solution. Thanks very much. Also to Mike S., but I am happy that I must not read a long webpage more to manage this implementation. All I want is playing and analysing a bit. I wont test anything but my own chess or some actual games. ;) Thanks, Rolf
