The following are only from my experience with Junior, Shredder and Fritz.

>1)Wide open positions (mobile pawn center)

1) Shredder 2) Junior

>2)King side attacks

1) Shredder 2) Junior

>3)Defense (King)when being attacked

No particular impression.

>4)Fixed (central) pawn formations

No engine that I know of. I've heard Hiarcs but haven't tried it.

>5)Compensation after long term pawn sacrifices

None. Junior comes closest. Shredder and Junior however are both vicious
sacrificing for king attacks, and give hyper-optimistic evaluations when
attacking.

>6)Compensation after exchange sacrifices

Compensation in the form of attacks against the king: Shredder and Junior. Long
term compensation, ala Petrosian: none, Junior comes closest.

>7)Opening novelties

Those won't come with the CD - you'll have to watch the WCCC to get them.

>8)endgames

None. Closest: 1) Fritz 2) Shredder. Junior needs a lot of work in this area
IMO.

>9)using 2 bishops advantage

No particular impression.

>10) middle game plans

Ditto.

>11) transition from the opening to the middle game

Ditto.

>12) transition from the middle game to the ending

1) Fritz 2) Shredder

Add item #13: least likely to give irrational scores & suggestions:

1) Fritz

Of course once Rybka is released then all of the above slide down by 1 :-)
