Is there such an analysis engine which uses tablebases in its search? Does the Crafty engine do this, and if so how can it be set up? If not, I suppose I could try to get it to work via the new winboard interface, which I will try tonight. The reason I ask is that I am trying to analyse the following endgame position, and the normal engines don't realize quickly enough that some of the KRKP and KQKP endings which could result are drawn. [Event "Nassau Chess Club Championship"] [Site "Mineola, NY, USA"] [Date "1998.12.07"] [Round "8"] [White "Mirabile, Tim"] [Black "Bierkens, Peter"] [Result "1-0"] [SetUp "1"] [FEN "KQ6/8/8/3k4/R5p1/5q2/8/8 w - - 0 66"] 66. Qb7+ Ke5 67. Ra5+ Kf4 68. Rd5 Kg3 69. Qd7 Kg2 70. Kb8 Qf4+ 71. Kc8 Qc4+ 72. Kd8 g3 73. Rd2+ Kf3 74. Rd3+ Kg2 75. Qb7+ Kf2 76. Qf3+ 77. Rd1+ Qf1 1-0 After 66.Qb7+? (66.Ka7 and the checks run out quickly), the win is problematic (if possible at all) up until my opponent played 71...Qc4+? and ran out of checks. Instead 71...Qf8+ looks like it has good chances to draw.
