Subject: mtd(f) and null move

could null move used in mtd(f)?
As far as i know,
null move based on assumption that fail high won't
affect the game tree
But in mtd(f) all node are fail high or fail low,
thus fail high will change the game tree.

I had tried null move in mtd(f), and it work in most time
but sometimes will fail, is that because that problem or by
null move's nature?
