Was this supposed to be a Shredder 8 specific bug? Using your example,
7.04 gives the same answer as your Fritz 8. Also, using Shredder 8 and Fritz 8
in Chessbase 8, I've never actually noticed this bug, and have even
specifically looked for it.

Would it be position specific, ie. could someone post a position
that I could use to demonstrate it for myself?

New game
r2qr2k/pp1b1pp1/2nbp3/6N1/2pP4/2P5/PP3PPP/R1BQR1K1 w - - 0 1

Analysis by Shredder 7.04:

1.Qh5+ Kg8 2.Qxf7+ Kh8 3.Qh5+ Kg8 4.Qh7+ Kf8 5.Qh8+ Ke7 6.Qxg7#
  +- (#6) Depth: 10/11 00:00:03

Thanks,

Kelly
