Yes, but you have only played 100 games against each opponent, while I have played hundreds of games against Arasan and probably thousands against Phalanx. :-) My engine has always scored noticably better against Arasan than against Phalanx. Gothmog 0.4.5, the last version I tested against both of the engines under discussion, scored 52.5-47.5 against Phalanx XXII and 68.5-31.5 against Arasan 7.2. On the other hand, I now see that the two engines are very close on most public and non-public rating lists. This is, of course, yet another example that you need to consider results against more than one opponent in order to judge the relative strength of two engines. Tord
