Yes. As so often, the results don't tell the whole story. If you take a look at the games, you will see that Muse could easily have scored more than 50% in these games. GothmogX was very lucky. >of course, you are >running on better hardware but not that that would explain 6-2.... >i usually get around 15-20 of 40 points in my blitz nunn matches against gothmog >0.4.5 - i don't know how much better 0.4.6. would be. I also don't know. The newer 0.4.7 (released yesterday) is more thoroughly tested, and seems to be around 50 points stronger than 0.4.5. >in addition, on ICC you >have the better hardware + gothmog can probably ponder which muse can't yet. so >overall it shouldn't really be a contest yet :-( Yes, Gothmog can ponder. >of my last N changes (N large), N proved to be useless. so i'm not having the >feeling that i'm making a lot of progress recently :-( Like all of us, I guess. >i should probably take a break and switch to the more mundane tasks of improving >the opening book and implementing pondering. somehow that's not what i want to >work on, but it would help. I can understand that. Pondering in particular is boring, and I found it surprisingly difficult to implement and work 100% right. It must have taken at least a month or two after my first public release before most of the ugly pondering-related bugs were fixed. >another thing i should work on is the trojan sac on g5 (or do some learning...), >some crazy guy on ICC drained muse during the last days by repeating the same >game whenever he got a chance. I think a good king safety eval is a better way to handle this than adding special code for trojan sacs. Tord
