And having thought about it the question is valid! What is it you really want to know? What is most imortant to you? So,trying to answer your question : 1. You playing against dedicated chess computers. a) Mephisto Vancouver 68000 16 bit Exclusive wooden auto-sensory board.Too many features and options to mention.Rated 2000 b) Excalibur Grand Master limited features & options but has a tournament size board & pieces. Rated 2200 by Excalibur. My rating 1750. 2. You play against software. a)Any one of the current crop of commercials and Crafty which is free (Never understood this). Too many features and options to mention. Weak levels to .....Explode your brain levels. 3. You want an engine for it's analysis features. This may be a matter of preference : My choice is F8.Deep Fritz 8 if you have the computer. There again many experts will disagree...Alan
