Well, if you play against Shredder 8 you will find it different than Shredder
7.04, so it is not the same engine.

Shredder 8 it tactically stronger, but positionally a little weaker than the
7.04.

On a faster harware the difference between the two increases. Athlon 1200 is a
rather slow hardware today.

Shredder UCI has an advantage over the CB version as there are 3 diffent book
options:

1. wide (the weakest as it is playing nearly everything) this is similar to CB
wide option.

2. std. where all the moves with rating a to d are played even if with different
frequency. Moves d are not that strong, but are included to make the book wider
which is good agains human players, but not against computer programs as all of
them are well prepared on openings now. This is similar to CB tournament option
(the strongest in CB GUI).

3. Tournament. Here the selection is limited to moves a to c; the best ones.
This is a more restricted selection and is effecting the ELO of the program
depending on the book. For 7.04 I think about 15 points against computers on an
average of about 1000 games

The new Shredder8.bkt book, for Shredder Classic interface, which is not
available yet and will be given available for download to Shredder Classid
registered users only, should increase the ELO up to 20-25 points compare to the
CB version. Also I think the learning feature in the Classic interface is more
effective and both together should increase the strenght of Shredder Classic
about 35 points over the CB version. Which should make a total up to about 50
points above the 7.04 version with the same interface.

Maybe I am not that young anymore, but I was teached to get informed well before
making any statements!

Superficiality is a mistake almost in everything.
