Shredder 8 is more speculative and more aggressive than Shredder 7.04, probably due to its increased tactical ability, as pointed out by Sandro. Also, it is much more fun to watch; it sacs more often than its predecessor. Shredder 8 is a wonderful program, its mate and draw extensions are just perfect, i.e. it could sac a major piece for a draw in a position it deems hopeless. Thus, you are offered two different programs that have performed equally well on the SSDF list, but who knows what may happen on a much faster CPU.
