Wow, yes, that "Custom Board" feature was rather plain, if not downright ugly.
It was just flat squares that you could color and size any way you liked. You
could put any piece set on them, but the pieces themselves would still be the
same size regardless of how you sized or oriented the board. The only sizable
piece set was the "Vector Set", which was just a true-type font, and not a
particularly attractive one either.

We dumped both of these options because the "flat 3D" looked much better.
