Pick your current favourite language. At least I find computer chess programming to be a very complex "thing". If you except have to fill your head with this subject, but also using a programming language you don't fully master it will be even more difficult. For Tohno (http://tohno.steneskog.se) I decided to use Java, not that I don't know C (actually used it more), but rather avoid hunting evil memory-bugs instead of doing real chess programming. After you have completed a well-playing computer with modest strength, then you may look for alternatives (having said that, Java is no longer much slower than native code). // Regards Per Steneskog
