Here is another guy (B. Stroustrup) who has the same view. It his probably his
view originally.  :-)

Please read his paper "Learning Standard C++ as a New Language", where he shows
how to write C++ that is both smaller and much faster than the corresponing C
code:

That's a good start, but you will miss out on the benefits of writing proper
C++.
