CM9k is still under development apparently..
http://www.feralinteractive.com/?game=chessmaster9k&language=english&section=

They have such good timing-- let's wait until 10th edition is released before we
do 9k for the mac and wonder why no one buys it.

ANYWAY,

Mac chess software:

Commercial:
Ruffian 2.1 is available as an unsupported "bonus"-- it is an xboard engine
SigmaChess has a nice carbon interface
Vecktor 3 has a very nice interface; I believe they are using crafty internally
BigBangChess which is more a kid's interface.. the engine is really weak.

Free:
Xboard, if you have X11 installed-- with this, you get every engine that you
care to port (and a lot of them will compile with no hassles)
Engines that I currently have running on my machine are crafty, fruit, tscp,
GES, ruffian and probably some other ones that I have forgot about.

For playing online:
Chessic 2.0 (ICC, FICS)
Fixation 2.1 (ICC, FICS)
Jin (ICC, FICS)
Ignatius (ICC (I am the author))
