i don't believe a word. to get an ISP for a place like CCC should cost very
little money (a few 100 bucks a year at most, certainly not a few 1000 as it is
now). perhaps steve can tell us how much bandwidth CCC needs.

for examples, check this out: http://www.hostdirection.com/
you get a host for 10$ a month these days, and if you need a lot of bandwidth it
comes up to about 50$ per month. that's 600$ per year and steve is asking for
about 10x as much...

the ISP will provide you with the service you need, he will have a server which
is well protected and up-to-date; so all these horror stories about replacing
the motherboard or no electricity are no issue.

the real issue is to find moderators who do the dirty work. but since these are
not part of ICC today, i doubt there will be a problem with that.
