IMHO, not necessarily either way. Say WB/Xboard do support this new feature,
others don't (yet). I cannot think of anything else, than the example of Daniel
with the PV formatting at the moment, for which such a feature could be needed.
All GUIs I remember at the moment besides XB/WB want to interprete the PV, that
is sent (I remember Fritz WB adapter, ChessAssistent, ChessAccademy, Arena,
ChessPartner, ChessVision, Scid, Jose). WB/XB display the PV as sent. So for
this case, support by WB/XB alone could be enough.

BTW. This could yield in realy misfunction. For example (at least some versions
of) the CB WB adapter used the PV to extract the ponder move. I also got hangs
of some old versions of ChessAssistent by some unusual PV (it got fixed very
fast). One can easily blame those GUIs, but I think it is also clear, that they
want to interprete the PV, and that without a real definition in the protocol,
problems will arise. simple coordinate notation will work everywhere, but does
not look nice under WB/XB.

Dieter
