I have an idea that might cause more confusion than it's worth, but I'll throw it out, anyway: If we're going to have 5 rounds on Saturday and only 4 on Sunday, why not use a slower time control on Sunday? I like the idea of those tense, final round games being played at a slightly more "serious" time control. As for the general discussion of time controls and schedules, my feeling is this: Most of the amateur programmers spend *several hundred* hours per year working on their programs and this is the most-important tournament of the year for them. With that in mind, is it really so bad if a slightly slower time control adds 1-2 hours to the playing schedule? :) -Peter P.S. Thanks for organizing the tourney. Every year I worry that nobody is going to step up and make it happen, and so it's always a relief when it finally does come together.
