Subject: I will buy a new computer, but which one is best for chess?

I plan to purchase a new desktop computer in the near future.

My goal for a new computer is: playing or analyzing correspondence chess games,
surf on the Internet and watch DVD movies.

Deciding to buy a good computer is no easy task, and I do not know which one is
best for me.

Please kindly answer the following questions below if you can.

1. Which processor is better for me and why?

A. Pentium 4 3.X Ghz or

B. AMD Athlon XP 3000.

2. Which is more stable and reliable, Pentium or AMD?

3. Is AMD Athlon 64 FX Processor even better than above?

4. Is Hyper-Threading Technology helpful for playing or analyzing chess games?

5. Which is better, CRT monitor or LCD monitor, and why?

Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Eran Karu
