For some reason, your Shredder thinks it isn't a "registered" version. One time when browsing the Chessbase webpage I came across a link to download Shredder 7.04 UCI. I thought, "Surely this isn't what I think it is...", so I downloaded it and tried it. It did the same thing that yours is doing. It played normally for a little bit and then it wouldn't search past depth 2. Obviously that download was an update for people who had already ownded Shredder, and not a freebie.
