When I consider the fact that movei is only 200-300 elo weaker than shredder inspite of all the missing knowledge that it does not have(both in evaluation and search) I think that chess programs are very weak and I expect to see in 2008 some programs that are at least 100 elo better than shredder8 and I am not sure if the best of them is going to be shredderX. If someone kwants to know how I got the estimate of 200-300 elo difference then Movei is 215 elo weaker than Shredder based on the following link http://www.playwitharena.co.uk/modules.php?name=ATL_League&page=4 Shredder is handicapped by using arena book so I guess that the real difference is near 250 elo.
