Go up one level in this thread
Possibly uninformed bidders that really want a Fidelity Phantom, but can't see paying that much and think the Mirage is every bit as reliable a machine. The Phantoms really go for a lot of money these days. I bought a SC9 new in 1982 and when the Phantoms came out in 1988 I wanted one badly. However, my wife didn't think I needed to spend so much money on a "toy". Finally, a few weeks ago, I was able to buy one on eBay. The problem is, that a week or so later the much rarer and sought after "Eyeball" version, model 6126, appeared on eBay. I had to have that one, and now, after all these years with nary a single Phantom, I have two! Any Phantom experts out there? I have been using both of these a lot the past couple of weeks, and am surprised to discover that the 6100 plays a stronger game than the 6126. They are supposed to have the same processor and program. I am not a very good chess player, and the 6100 beats me fairly often at the lowest level, A1. However, I am able to beat the 6126 quite easily at that level. I know about the "Easy" game option that prevents the computer from thinking on my time, and that option is turned off. Any ideas on what could be happening here? Thanks, Dick Schneiders
