Do your homework! Peter Berger wrote the book that Crafty used during the WCCC.

You don't need an excuse for not participating, especially not with another
tournament in a week's time. Noticed that none of the other commercial programs
joined? And if you do your homework you know that Diep participated in all CCT's
up till CCT-5.
