The only value of an Elo rating is to compare it with the numbers for his contemporaries. So the differences are what is important. If you subtract or add 1000 to all the numbers, nothing changes. There is no sound way to connect the Elo figures from different eras. It is like a moving stream, with different volumes of water all the time.
