Certainly any unauthorized copy of a once commercially available lp, even one that is very rare, is something I would not want to have, nor would almost any true collector. However, there are other recordings, that are still called "bootleg", that are of music that has never been offered commercially. Some of these, depending on the artist and the time frame in their career, can be very collectable and quite expensive. When this is the only way to possess this music or even this particular *version* of this music, then I will not turn my back on it, just because it is a bootleg. However, I have never purchased a bootleg copy of anything, when it is a recent performance. I only will look for and buy bootlegs that are from artists from very early in their careers.
