Hello, all.

First, I suppose that I'm glad from his messages in this sub-thread and the
other (http://www.talkchess.com/forums/1/message.html?424412) that Mr. Tueschen
will no longer respond to my posts; it gives me the rare opportunity to have the
last word! (Although only a couple of people are likely to follow this thread
down so far.)

In general, it seems that although Mr. Tueschen has complaints about the
behavior of the Deep Blue team and/or IBM, he refuses to suggest any concrete
changes to future match rules that might address the problem (he snipped my
request that he do so). He seems to prefer complaining.

I myself am not happy with the way that Deep Blue won; I would have preferred a
crush, just as Kasparov would be expected to routinely outplay a 2500 player.
The fact that DB won the way all computers have been winning for years, with an
occasional good plan but mostly by hanging on and exploiting human frailty, is
just the way things are. Discovering that more horsepower was enough to defeat
the World Champion -- an undoubted chess genius -- this is the primary
scientific result of the 2nd match.

I have no illusions that Deep Blue was actually the better player. It was just
better over one very short series of games.

Secondly, if the numerous mentions of "crimes" in Mr. Tueschen's post to not
refer to Dr. Hsu et al, or to Dr. Hyatt (who supports Hsu), it baffles me as to
whom Mr. Tueschen is referring. Here is a link to his original post, in which
one can find all the phrases I quoted:

Finally, regarding who's a troll: If I'm a troll, I'm not a very successful
one, judging by the average number of responses to my posts. At least I don't
have a personal web page devoted to my trolls as Mr. Tueschen has for his:
