Was deep blue a full featured chess program with all the bells and whistles, or
was it a program with features to let it play raw chess and Analysis features.

I think maybe the post is about which egine play the best game of chess, not
what game features a program has, It would be like the SSDF

just plain Results, like you were playing OTB.

For me that is still up in the air, I would have about 6 or seven that could be
the best engine.

At the moment you would have to look at which programs have made results, Hiarcs
7 topping the SSDF, CM6K won the big swiss tournament was it not with the latest
king3 engine.

Fritz5.32, Rebel 10 have had some good solid games and Rebel already beaten a GM
Anand

So it is a question still up in the air and will be for a while to come I think
