And yet they knock the stuffings out of literally dozens of chess engines that do fully know the rules of chess. Every decision has a cost and benefit. Ideally, every chess engine would know the rules perfectly and play the moves perfectly and do it at the highest possible speed. But everything is a tradeoff.
