I do not know.

I only say that results in blitz and rapid time control may be different so they
do not prove that 1...e5 is a bad choice against 1.e4.

I agree that the results of adams against hydra suggest that it is a bad choice
but I do not claim to know and another possibility is that it is bad luck for
adams that hydra chose lines that he did not know how to play and adams tried
1...e5 at home against 1.e4 and found that he has better chances to win against
the top programs relative to other opening.

My guess is that it is not the case and adams did not prepare for the match by
playing long time control games against chess programs but it is only a guess
and I may be wrong.
