Hi,

Chinese chess. Reasons are...
1. It's on 90 intersections not 64 squares.
2. A good player can give up one or two pawns in the opening without any
danger.
3. There is an unusual piece move like a rook but it has to jump over another
in capture.
4. Some pieces are  defensive only they can't move into enemy area. This
leads to many specific endgames to handle. For example,suppose one side
has a rook and all defensive pieces he may find it difficult to win againt no
rook and all defensive pieces. In other word mathematics is not appliable here.
5. So far, I've never seen any strong program that can beat a master.
I don't know Shogi rule but I think they're quite similar in features.
