Hi Madhavan,

First of all, this isn't the first ever FRC code. The first ever FRC code was
Glaurung 0.2.4, released a few weeks ago. :-)

In normal chess, it does. According to my own tests, Glaurung 0.2.4 is
about 100 Elo points stronger than Gothmog 1.0 beta 10. This agrees
extremely well with the AEGT/CEGT ratings, where Glaurung 0.2.4 is
currently exactly 100 points ahead (2601 vs 2501).

In FRC, nobody knows. I cannot do any FRC testing myself.

Very different, yes.

There is a simple text-mode interface that should work in Windows, but it
is too crude to be useful for anything more than development. The strength
is difficult to estimate, because I have no strong opponents to test against.
Subjectively, it feels even stronger than Glaurung, but this might be because
I play hexagonal chess even worse than normal chess. Scatha has very little
endgame knowledge and is probably weak in this phase of the game, but
I can't tell because I never survive until the endgame.
