About Rebel10.0c

Rebel10.0c is a MAJOR ENGINE update and is currently tested to
investigate the best default settings for the chess engine. This can
take a little while.

What will be new in the engine?

#1. The first "fruit" of the REBEL-TIGER approach. This engine feature
will make Rebel10 2.5 times faster in ply-depth. It's currently tested and
if it returns satisfying results its default will be set to ON in the new pull
down item "System Tiger".

#2. Improved hash table algorithm. This new algorithm will work out
positively especially in the end-game.

#3. Improved tactics introducing new extensions.

#4. The feature COMBINATION is drastically changed. There are 3
main changes to this algorithm:
a) when set to ON "combination" is valid for the "whole game" now.
b) because of (a) the algorithm is more careful with all the extra extensions.
c) its default setting will be most likely set to OFF.

#5. No AUTO232 support yet. It's our understanding Rebel10 performs
better playing games manually then when with AUTO232 (playing
automatic games on 2 Pc's). However if we find out what's going on
with AUTO232 we will release another patch.

#6. Because of #1 the option "Brute Force" in the pulldown menu is
replaced with the option "System Tiger". If you miss the option "brute
force" then use "Selection=1" which practically is about the same.

Kind regards,

Ed Schroder
