Because they cannot win.

By that I mean, they would be expected to win. And so, if they win everyone
yawns. But if they lose then a big uproar. In a short contest like this one,
anyone has a chance. Look at the lone draw of Zappa and imagine if the same
game happened to Hydra and also if Hydra finishes 3rd. I think that the
investment for Hydra is probably many millions of dollars and it would be a big
embarassment.

I wonder if Hydra would submit to SSDF?

Perhaps the Hydra engine could play full force but online against the other
engines.

Then we would all know just how strong Hydra is. But really, I do not think
that such a thing will happen.

Here is my dream match for excitment:
1. Hydra, fully configured with as many CPU boards as they can load without
saturating the bus.
2. Zappa on a 16 way box with 4 way CPUs for 64 full-force threads.
3. Shredder 10 on the same hardware configuration as Zappa.
4. Fruit 3.1 SMP on the same hardware as Zappa.

5. As long as I am hallucinating, then let's throw in Deeper Blue.

Time control of 40/2 and 30 games against each program round-robin.
