Now that I am a graduate student, I have updated the Zappa webpage and moved it to the university's site. So, while I appreciate Volker's hard work, I don't have to steal his bandwidth anymore :) The new site: http://netfiles.uiuc.edu/acozzie2/www/zappa (it really amazes me that there is another acozzie in the world) Updates to the site: Zappa 1.1 (bugfix of 1.0, singular extensions actually work now, plus a few trivial things). Win64 and Linux versions. (Yes, Zappa 2.0 will be commercial. It should be released sometime in September. The engine is ready; the GUI is not. Although it does look Really Nice). Games commented by GM Ehlvest (don't look for any serious analysis, just what he was thinking when he played the moves). Zappa's games from the WCCC with score/depth/time for each move, and in a nice format too :) Photo-journal for the WCCC and also the excursion we took. Note: I am not a fan of thumbnails. Total its about a 3MB download for both Perhaps a bit large if you are on dialup. Requests: I have been making two statements in the past few weeks that to be honest I have no real proof of, only a gut feeling, namely a) that Zappa 1.0 (1.1) is a reasonably strong engine, and b) that Zappa in general is much stronger at longer TC than blitz. So I would be very interested in someone running a few matches, namely: Zappa 1.1 64bits - Fruit 2.1, 100 games, fritz8.ctg+swap-sides, tc. 5+1 Zappa 1.1 64bits - Fruit 2.1, 100 games, fritz8.ctg+swap-sides, tc 15+5 Zappa 1.1 64bits - Fruit 2.1, 100 games, fritz8.ctg+swap-sides, tc 40+10 Zappa 1.1 64bits - Fruit 2.1, 100 games, fritz8.ctg+swap-sides, tc 90+30. I know that is a lot of CPU time (a few weeks total, I think), so only do it if you are interested. I don't think 1.1 is quite a match for Fruit (even in 90+30), but I'm curious to see how it does. I know from talking to Fabien that he would also be interested in a match like this, which is why I'm suggesting Fruit. Anyway, if the score is the same for all timecontrols, then I will have to recant my statements :) anthony
